LOOKING BACK AT JABULO'S INSTALLATION

Njabulo Hlophe, a Johannesburg-born artist from 1996, emphasizes storytelling through his art. His approach delves into human experiences via introspective and outward narratives. Njabulo earned his Bachelor of Arts in visual communication from the Stellenbosch Academy of Design and Photography, where he established Studio Dirty Native. Growing up in Soweto and Johannesburg's CBD, his work examines his intricate cultural background, positioning him as an insightful observer of everyday human thoughts and desires.

Njabulo's art portrays the diversity of human life and common experiences, focusing on identity and the struggles to define it. He sees his artwork as a means of questioning rather than offering solutions. Njabulo has showcased his work at various exhibitions and art fairs, such as the RMB Latitudes Art Fair in 2023, the Spirit Exhibition in Zurich in 2022, and the Museum of Plastic Group Exhibition in Cape Town in 2021.
